alfie lee writing

While you were sleeping

on the deep sea floor
an unending wash
of marine snow blankets
a bed of bare whale bones.

While you were sleeping,
winds wick the oceans
up to cast a universe
of singular stars
to drift where they may.

While you were sleeping,
for the rhythm of your rest
i fall in time
for each following breath to find
my reason and rhyme.
