i only need oxygen
i shine a bright light
i cast big shadows

on they who suss me out
of all that means
i must be special

to seek approval
though
disapproval makes me

who i am
just like you
but more

an island
not of earth
a bank of selfworth

and kind to all
my kind and keen
to determine

who's who who would do
what they say and decide
which side

to refuse to be blind
to focus my mind
i put blinkers on

i stare unblinking
and live life
too hard to be thinking
