note to drive
excerpted from Wikipedia:
The Anne in the poem
drive refers to American poet
Anne Sexton. She was regarded as a poet of highly personal, confessional verse. She suffered from depression, mania and displayed suicidal tendencies.
On October 4th, 1974, Sexton returned home from lunch, put on her mother's fur coat, removed her rings, poured herself a vodka, locked herself in her garage and started the engine of her car, killing herself by carbon monoxide poisoning.
She had a fondness for palindromes.
